Farm to jar

Ever wondered how a jar of Batch 12 gets made? Here's a peek inside our kitchen, from fresh produce to sealed and labeled jars.

1

Prep the harvest

Farm-fresh produce gets washed, cut, roasted and peeled by hand.

Heirloom tomatoes, cut and ready to go
Roasted poblano peppers, the heart of our Corn Salsa
Up close: charred, peeled and seeded by hand
Beets from Gathering Springs Farm simmering on the stove
Peeled beets with their deep ruby rings
2

Cook low and slow

Small batches on the stove, stirred until the texture is just right.

Strawberry jam bubbling away
You can’t rush epic flavor

Our 24-Hour Apple Butter simmers low and slow for a full day so the apples’ natural sugars caramelize.

3

Fill every jar

Jars are filled one at a time with our trusty blue funnel.

Filling jars of strawberry jam
One batch, a dozen-ish jars
Filled and waiting for their lids
Cucumber spears packed tight for pickling
Pickles lidded and lined up
4

Sealed, labeled and ready

Every finished jar gets a batch number, so you know exactly which kitchen day it came from.

Pickled jalapeños on our favorite checkered towel
Corn Salsa, fresh out of the canner
Pickled beets cooling on the counter
Pickled Beets, beets sustainably grown by Gathering Springs Farm
A salsa lineup: Roasted Tomato Chipotle, Classic Tomato, Spicy Tomatillo and Peach
